30 Day Book Challenge

Okay, so I don’t really know if challenge is the right word for this, but anyway. Basically I have seen this floating around in other people’s blogs and such, and thought it was kind of a cool idea, so I’m going to give it a go as well. Each day I just have to write a small blog post which answers a number of topics about my book reading habits, as follows:

Day 01 – Best book you read last year

Day 02 – A book that you’ve read more than 3 times

Day 03 – Your favorite series

Day 04 – A guilty pleasure book

Day 05 – A book that makes you happy

Day 06 – A book that makes you sad

Day 07 – Most underrated book

Day 08 – Most overrated book

Day 09 – A book you thought you wouldn’t like but ended up loving

Day 10 – Favorite classic book

Day 11 – A book you hated

Day 12 – The first novel you remember reading

Day 13 – Your favorite writer

Day 14 – Favorite book of your favorite writer

Day 15 – Book that should be on hs/college required reading list

Day 16 – A book you would recommend to an ignorant/close-minded/racist person

Day 17 – Favorite quote from your favorite book

Day 18 – A book that disappointed you

Day 19 – Favorite book turned into a movie

Day 20 – Book turned into a movie and completely desecrated

Day 21 – Favorite book from your childhood

Day 22 – The book that made you fall in love with reading

Day 23 – A book you wanted to read for a long time but still haven’t

Day 24 – A book that you wish more people would’ve read

Day 25 – A character who you can relate to the most

Day 26 – A book that changed your opinion about something

Day 27 – The most surprising plot twist or ending

Day 28 – Favorite title

Day 29 – A book that makes you cry

Day 30 – Your favorite book of all time

A lot of these are the sorts of things one often doesn’t think about when reading books, so I will quite possibly surprise myself with some of these answers….

Anyway, I’ll have the first day’s blog for this up in a few moments after this one, and then will do my best to jump online everyday for the next 30 days to finish off the rest. I will blog other blogs in between all this from time to time still, as well.

Happy reading!

  2. Good luck on the 30 day challenge. I love books but I don’t have enough time to read so most of them are on my TBR list.

It’s a thrill when you challenge yourself to something like this.Last year, I joined WordPress’ Post A Day Challenge and it was fun.

    • Thanks! It is hard to find time to read, for me personally I actually sleep less just to squeeze in time to read at many points of the year, but it is difficult certainly.
I agree though, challenging yourself always brings out amazing things, hence why I’m doing this 30 day challenge, as well as a wide array of writing challenges over the year that will push me well outside of my comfort zone and limits. I love it!
      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  5. Love this idea! What a great way to document your reading life! I hope you don’t mind if I borrow it 🙂 I love books and read a lot, but like you said, many of the questions are not what I consciously think about while reading. Should be a fun project! Thanks for the idea!

    • It is a good one isn’t it? That’s what drew me to it, just a way of zooming in on the moments of my reading life over the past quarter century that have truly inspired me, moved me in some way, and contributed to the reader, writer and person I am today. I am surprising myself with the answers so far, and am already racking my brains for day 4….
You’re more than welcome to steal the idea, it’s a great thing to do. Good luck with it, I’ll make sure to check out your blog and see how you go with it too 🙂

  7. Awesome idea! 🙂 I loved almost all the questions in the challenge. And I’m already thinking about my answers for them! I’d love to take up this challenge too… 😀 Loved your blog!

  8. Reblogged this on The BookBimbo Chronicles and commented:
So, a fellow blogger had this idea which I’m going to shamelessly copy (I hope he takes it as a compliment), but still giving him due credit! Visit his blog (its awesome) and keep reading to see what my 30 book in the categories mentioned are!

    • Oooh, what a clever idea. I had been wondering whether or not to adapt it to other things too, but I imagine it would fit music quite well.
But by all means borrow and tweak it for music, so long as you don’t mind if I quite possibly borrow the adapted idea back off you, hahaha? I might do it a bit later though, after I finish this NaPoWriMo thingo. Well, I say this now…

      • Now, wouldn’t that be great? 🙂 I’ve been craving new music, and since our tastes are quite similar, I’d have a ready-made playlist waiting for me if you chose to do the music thing, too! Please do? My “to-listen” list is frightfully in need of some attention. 😛

        • Hahaha okay, I will do the music challenge too, especially as it looks like you put quite a bit of time and effort into those questions – they are awesome! 🙂 Although I was planning to do it in May, knowing me I will probably start doing it in the next day or two hahahaha 😛 Looking forward to it now!

  14. I didn’t see this challenge until now or otherwise I probably would have tried to get through the whole month – however, I love this list, so I think I will save it for blog posts ideas this year!!

    • Oh yeah, it’s not really anything you have to do in a specific month or anything. It does have some great topics, although being halfway through it for the second time now I’m starting to remember some topics on the list really annoy me (some of them seem to just repeat themselves). Hope you get some good ideas from it though! 🙂
