30 Day Music Challenge Day 19: Favourite Album Artwork

This may come as no surprise, but I have a number of favourite album covers, and I am sure I will forget many of my favourites as well. But here are a few that have sprung to mind:

  1. For 8 of my favorites, gotta go with Queen’s News Of The World, ELP’s Brain Salad Surgery, Pink Floyd’s Division Bell, Styx’s The Grand Illusion, The Who’s The Who Sell Out, John Entwistle’s Whistle Rhymes, Spooky Tooth’s You Broke My Heart So…I Busted Your Jaw, & Tom Waits Days Of Wine & Roses..although I could probably spend the best part of the day looking over my LP covers again. This was fun. Great post!

    • Ahhh awesome picks! I love the covers of the first three you mention in particular – I nearly chose News Of The World and The Division Bell. Glad you enjoyed the post (so did I actually, and I agree – I could have spent hours looking through my covers). šŸ™‚

  2. I buy old albums for their artwork alone sometimes. I have 2 faves – one by some unknown 80’s band but the artwork is by a famous artist – Auerbach. The other is a recording of Dylan Thomas reciting poetry but I just love the photo on the cover-it oozes coolness. I also buy old covers to cut up into artworks. I remember as a teenager meticulously copying the cover of Ritchie blackmore’s Rainbow Rising onto a cover of a school book.

    • Haha, I do that too actually – if I like the cover of an album I will buy it even if I don’t have a clue what the music sounds like (often I find a band/artist who has a cool album cover almost always has very good music, too). Both those album covers you mention sound cool, and I love your idea of cutting some up into artworks…that would be a lot of fun actually! šŸ™‚
